News was around corner a few months back that Sunil Mittal-led Bharti Airtel initiated talks with Dish Tv to merger their DTH operations. The decision came only after the news of Mukesh Ambani's Jio Giga fiber started flowing into the market.
As repoted by Economic Times, Airtel Digital TV along with its private equity holding firm Warburg Pincus reached an agreement for merger and final announcement is expected by this month end.
The talks were on hold because Essel Group promoters were busy with ZEE stake sale. Now that it is done, the three parties gave come back to the table to stitch the deal.
ET was first to report on March 18 that Mittal had initiated talks with the Essel Group promoters to merge the DTH operations.
Now together with Dishtv D2h, airtel digital tv will become the largest Tv distribution company with market share of 61% in Indian DTH market.
So this was the news about the merger. Hope it brings more valuable services to its customers.
